The Beginning

On a recent trip exploring the historic streets of Porto, Portugal, we stumbled upon a soap maker selling a variety of beautifully scented soaps. After sparking a conversation, we learned he and his wife are artisan soap makers who specialize in all-natural, handmade soaps.

These artisanal soap makers are mindful of the environment, producing 100% handcrafted and sustainably made products from all-natural and biodegradable materials. They run an eco-conscious business that follows ethical and responsible practices to avoid contributing to the compounding global environmental problems.

We bought a few things, but to our disappointment, we cannot make future purchases outside of Europe. 

The Inspiration

What if we can make these soaps more readily available to those who live outside of Europe, specifically in the Americas?

What if we can do the same for other local artisans from small, family-owned businesses that are limited to selling only within their region?

These questions inspired us to be the bridge that will make these products accessible and readily available in the Americas.

Our Aspiration

This was when the idea of Purus Terrae came to be. Our mission is to search the world for a multitude of diverse, eco-minded local artisans from small businesses who produce hand-made, all-natural, and traditional products. To help bring awareness and accessibility to their craft for all of us to appreciate, we at Purus Terrae want to feature and highlight the cultural and historical aspects of these traditional products to inform and shed light on the individual and environmental benefits they may yield while also giving back to these local artisans as well as their communities. 

Our discoveries will feature natural and eco-friendly products that are ethically sourced and sustainably made that are beneficial not only to the planet but also to our well-being. Carefully selecting products that contain the very basic, minimal ingredients necessary without the addition of chemicals, additives, or fillers.
